Fighting Clams and 3D New England Honor McCrae Williams in Annual Committed Game for Fourth Straight Year
For the fourth straight year, the Fighting Clams and 3d New England pitted their top players against one another. For the second straight year, the game was about so much more than just competition.
Lafayette freshman and former Fighting Clam McCrae Williams was once again being honored and remembered for his seven years in the Clam organization, and also his four years spent playing for 3d’s Matt Rowley at the Noble and Greenough School. McCrae always played the game with a high level of skill and competitive grit. The game, which the Clams eventually won in overtime, was played in a manner that would have made McCrae very proud.
In addition to the game itself, a 50/50 raffle raised a large sum of money for the McCrae Williams Foundation as well.
It meant a great deal to us to have McCrae’s parents, Dianne and Chris, on site to help us dedicate an afternoon to remembering McCrae, as well as to spread the word about their Foundation’s mission of advocating for the Good Samaritan policies of college campuses and exposing the dangerous practice of jan-sporting or backpacking. Dianne and Chris spoke to players on both the 3d committed team and the Clam committed team, and hopefully the awareness they raised within this relatively small group will extend well beyond.
On behalf of both the Clam and 3d staff, I want to thanks all who helped make this game very special and meaningful for yet another year.
